Manchester United are not interested in a move for former Old Trafford man Wilfried Zaha, according to Bleacher Report.
The Sun had reported that the club were lining up a bid upwards of £70m for the Crystal Palace winger, who they believe is more mature than his time at the north-west club, but this latest update claims that is not going to happen.
The Ivory Coast international did have his heart set on a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer, however, the Gunners turned to Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe.
A move for Zaha would be horrible business from the club, and with their history of bad transfers, fans will be hoping the club know better than to be chasing the 26-year-old.
In Marcus Rashford they have someone who is younger and has a higher ceiling in terms of how good he can become in the future. The young forward is only 22 years of age, however, has already notched up 54 goals and 187 appearances for the club (via Transfermarkt)
In terms of direct comparison with Zaha, it really is staggering how much more prolific a natural striker, playing in wide areas of attack, is than a natural winger. Rashford has contributed seven goals in seven games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side from wide areas, five more goal contributions than what Zaha has managed in 12 games this season.
Digging deeper into the statistics, and you really begin to see the difference in quality between the two players. Rashford has averaged more shots and played more key passes per game than his Ivorian counter-part despite United scoring more than one goal in just five of their 18 games this campaign.
Zaha has also been slammed for his recent antics, with one report labelling his endless frustration ‘infuriating’.
From his attitude to the age difference to the gap in quality, Rashford remains a better option than Zaha, making reports over their hesitancy in signing the Palace winger all the more understandable, and great news for the Old Trafford faithful.
