Manchester United are eyeing a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward, Erling Braut Haaland, according to 90min.
According to the website, the Red Devils are also eyeing moves for Norwegian players Kristoffer Ajer of Celtic and Sander Berge of Genk as part of a triple-swoop.
However, a move for the three players depends on if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains as manager, with 90min reporting his immediate short-term future is safe.
Despite all three players being only 21 and 19-years-old, they are all full internationals for Norway.
United have struggled with goalscoring this season partly down to two reasons; injuries and the sale of two experienced forwards in Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The Red Devils have scored one goal or less in their last 10 games in all competitions, showing how blunt the attack is (via WhoScored).
Selling Sanchez and Lukaku meant that Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were left as part of just three senior attackers at the club (via Transfermarkt). With Martial having been out since the defeat at home to Crystal Palace and Lingard’s lack of goals in 2019, you begin to see the problems facing Solskjaer with Rashford being relied on for goals.
A move for Haaland could be just what the doctor ordered for the north-west club. The 19-year-old has been on fire this season, scoring 18 goals and assisting a further five in just 11 games in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
In the Champions League this season, Haaland is averaging two shots per game and has already notched up four goals in one start and a substitute appearance, showing his predatory instinct.
Manchester United have struggled for goals massively this season, and with a lack of squad depth, a new striker definitely needs to be top of their wishlist in the next two transfer windows.
Manchester United fans, would you sign Haaland in the January transfer window? Let us know your thoughts!
