After years of failing by trying to build their team around marquee signings, Manchester United are seemingly finally hitting the reset button.

Surely, they’re going back to doing what they do best, building from scratch to buy talented players who can become giants at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s strategy seems to focus less on big money acquisitions, while more on signing effective players who can fit into their development. As a result, they’re now looking at some unconventional options and according to reports (via the Daily Mail) are the frontrunners when it comes to potentially signing Swansea City's Dan James.

The 21-year-old electric winger’s bamboozled defences in the Championship, dazzling the Swans fans on multiple occasions. James impressed with his thrilling pace laced with his incisiveness in the final third, while his promising crossing ability and eye for goal are discreet treasures. Indeed, he can operate both as a left or right-winger, showcasing versatility to cause chaos from just about anywhere in the final third.

Finally, a signing that seems to make sense.

James’ scored 4 goals and assisted 7 for the Swans this season. He’s showcased raw pace, fantastic dribbling ability as well as a lethal edge around the penalty area. He’s averaged 2.6 shots, 1.3 dribbles completed per game (stats via WhoScored), which prove just how much of a livewire he is going forward.

Reportedly valued at just £10m, it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Considering their history in giving rise to youngsters, James is of the mould to become a superstar. He's a versatile figure with the potential to grow big under Solskjaer. Indeed, the Welshman can revitalize the Red Devils attack with his fiery ability and be the hard-working figure the Norwegian must be craving for in his front-line.
