Manchester United’s success in the modern era has seen a number of world-class players ply their trade at Old Trafford in the club’s history, and the anniversary of one former player’s memorable assist has got some fans reliving the moment and praising the striker’s contribution during his time with the club.
Dimitar Berbatov, who played for the Red Devils between 2008-2012, scored 48 Premier League goals for the club whilst also lifting the league title on two occasions, in what were much better times for the Old Trafford giants.
Whilst the former Bulgarian international’s goalscoring prowess was impressive during his time with United, one of the striker’s most memorable assists has resurfaced following its 11th anniversary in a tweet from the club.
Against West Ham in 2008, Berbatov darted to the sideline but intricately chipped the ball past the Hammers’ James Collins and laid off a beauty of an assist for Cristiano Ronaldo who clinically finished the cross. Here are some of the best reactions to the anniversary of ‘that’ assist from Berbatov.
