Manchester United’s poor start to the Premier League season has made Champions League qualification a tall order.

The Red Devils sit 10th, having collected just 13 points from their opening 11 league games, scoring just 13 goals in that time.

Only twice have Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side scored more than once in a league game all season, on the opening day against Chelsea and newly-promoted Norwich.

These struggles have translated to the Europa League, United have scored just twice in three games, but are yet to concede in the competition.

Solskjaer dismissed suggestions that winning the competition is the club’s easiest route back to the Champions League (via The Independent).

The Red Devils won the Europa League in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, helping the club return to Europe’s elite competition after finishing sixth in the Premier League that season.

The Norwegian was keen to state that United have a long way to go in the Premier League and it is still possible that they break into the top four.
