Although the 23-year-old has shined between the sticks for Chris Wilder’s side, the Red Devils will not bring him back to Old Trafford in the summer.
The United academy product has spent the past two seasons on loan at Bramall Lane, helping the Blades get promoted last year, and impressing at the back as the Yorkshire outfit have defied the odds to charge up to the top end of the Premier League this season. Henderson has played in 27 games in the English top flight, keeping 10 clean sheets, and conceding only 22 goals so far. He is valued at £13m via Transfermarkt.
In contrast, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice keeper David de Gea has made 29 appearances for United, saving just 8 clean sheets, and giving up 30 goals up until now (Transfermarkt).
Understandably, many supporters reacted to the transfer news on social media, with one fan dubbing the “future number one” as “magnificent,” and another lamenting the “foolishness” of the decision.

He’s better off playing week in week out anyway, didn’t expect them to recall him

The lad is the future number one, if that takes another season on loan at the blades, should suit all parties 👍

Henderson has had 2 outstanding seasons. He also played last year champ
Although I do agree that we do not hurry to replace DDG, he has been on a decline and United are all about replacing and promoting youth and form where possible
