Although he only moved to the San Siro Stadium last summer, the veteran centre-back is considered surplus to requirements by the Black and Blues boss Antonio Conte, after struggling to make much of an impact in the Serie A.
Godin has made 16 appearances in the Italian top flight this season, averaging 1.5 tackles per game, completing 1.8 interceptions, and making only 0.3 blocks on average for the Nerazzurri (WhoScored).
The Uruguayan international has earned over 100 caps and scored 8 goals for La Celeste so far. His current market value is registered at £9m via Transfermarkt.
Despite his recent decline in form, club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly considering bringing Godin to Old Trafford to provide some vital experience for his younger defenders, although it is likely the former Atletico Madrid star would find his game time limited.
Do you think Ole Gunnar Solskjær is good enough to manage Manchester United?
Naturally many Red Devils have reacted to the latest transfer news on Twitter, with some dismissing the reports as mere speculation, whilst others slammed a possible move for Godin. One angry fan branded the link as “fake news” while another supporter urged outlets to “stop the lies.”
Take a look at some of the frustrated reactions below…
