Manchester United are close to completing a move for Moussa Dembele in the summer, according to the Daily Express

United face competition from Frank Lampard's Chelsea, but Dembele reportedly prefers a move to Old Trafford instead of Stamford Bridge, and the player has informed the club of his decision.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been monitoring the Lyon striker for the past year and the board believe he is the long-term solution to the gap left by Romelu Lukaku.

After arriving at the Groupama Stadium from Celtic FC for £19.8m in 2018, the 23-year-old has dazzled the Ligue 1 crowds, scoring 16 goals and creating 2 assists in 27 appearances this term, taking 2.1 shots per game, and making just under 1 key pass and 1 dribble on average (via WhoScored).

His impressive displays have caught the gaze of numerous suitors, including Lampard's Blues, but Solskjaer appears to have usurped the former England international in the race to sign the Frenchman in the upcoming transfer window.

The Red Devils are confident they can bring the forward to the Theatre of Dreams for £60m when the market opens.

As expected, many United fans drooled over Dembele's transfer update, with one supporter gleefully tweeting "Chelsea in the mud," and another dubbing him a "baller."
