Odion Ighalo has been a revelation since he moved to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Ighalo praised the influence of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and revealed how the club legend has improved his game, despite their short time working together. Speaking to the club’s official website, the 30-year-old said: “As a striker, it’s good when a striker is coaching you. And, as a striker, you benefit even more than the defenders.”
The striker said of his manager: “He is someone who has scored goals for a long time and has done a lot for United, so it’s good to learn from him.”
After arriving at Old Trafford from Shanghai Shenhua on a short-term loan until the end of the season, the Nigerian quickly settled in at United, scoring four goals in eight games for Solskjaer’s side, including a match-winning double against Derby County in the FA Cup back in March (Transfermarkt).
Despite the fact he was initially called up to deputise for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, the forward has more than delivered, taking 2.7 shots per game, averaging two key passes and completing 1.7 dribbles on average in the Europa League so far (WhoScored).
Ighalo has quickly adapted to life at the Theatre of Dreams and is currently valued at just £4.68m via Transfermarkt, although whether or not Ed Woodward will offer him a permanent contract in the summer remains to be seen.
As expected, many Red Devils fans gushed over his “great” comments on Twitter, with one fan dubbing him a “monster,” and another pleading with the board to “sign him up.”
