After Manchester United stormed to a resounding 4-0 victory inside ten second-half minutes on Thursday night in the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar, fans have taken to Twitter and hailed arguably the star of the night in Mason Greenwood after his clinical brace.
Are Manchester United better off without Paul Pogba?
Greenwood, a player some United supporters want to see start more often in the Premier League, rose to the occasion and buried chances that dropped his way on a night to remember for the youngster – his first goal being a brilliant finish from outside the area and the second blasted past AZ ‘keeper Marco Bizot at his near post.
The result puts United through to the Last 32 of the competition’s knockout phase as Group L winners – taking the Red Devils’ winning streak in all competitions to three games heading into a league clash with Everton at the weekend.
The 18-year-old’s contribution to the great win can’t be understated, with supporters flocking to social media in order to praise his efforts.
Here’s what they had to say.
Greenwood is the future. He is going to be a top player for us.
