Responding to a tweet by Utd Report, Manchester United supporters haven’t held back in their opinions of youngster Angel Gomes as they cite theories and reasons as to why he isn’t destined to become a first-team player at Old Trafford.
Should Angel Gomes replace Jesse Lingard as Man Utd's No.10?
The 19-year-old has just nine minutes of playing time under his belt in the Premier League so far this season, and despite starting three games in the Europa League, supporters don’t think he is quite the man to provide another dimension to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Gomes didn’t feature in the Red Devils’ latest victory over Colchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, with Marcus Rashford, Ryan Jackson’s own goal and Anthony Martial giving them a routine victory inside ten second-half minutes.
United went on to draw bitter rivals Manchester City in the semi-finals of the competition, but judging by these supporters’ verdicts on Gomes, they don’t want to see him feature in those games either.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
It’ll be a Pogba 2.0 tbh

Nothing to talk about – he’s gone.

Lightweight, bullied in games he has played. Lingard type who will come on nearer 24. Has bags of ability but if he won’t sign then it’s a shame as it’s clear ole wants to give him chances, but he hasn’t taken them yet.

This boy honesty, lacks creativity. He’s vision is not 3 steps beyond.
There is no WOW factor, when given the chance.
He has lots of work to do.
The choice is he’s at the end of the day….. If he wants it, he has to earn it.

He has shown glimpses of his talent but not enough to be a United player. Needs regular game time at another Club to show what he’s got. Also he needs to grow some mass to compete at the top level. He is a little weak.

Cue the people who think he’s the next David Silva. He’s not. He has some skill, but is way too small (and not good enough to overcome that) and hasn’t done anything to prove he’s worth a contract extension.

I mean whats he done to be demanding game time? Hes had a at least 4 games where hes looked less than impressive, you have to make an impression, like brandon, tuanzebe, garner, greenwood, levitt, either sign and youll play or leave, for all we know he could have a bad attitude?
