Manchester United fans in uproar on Twitter as rumours of Coutinho move emerge

Coutinho could end his Barcelona misery by returning to the Premier League

When you’re off the back of one of your worst seasons in recent memory, the transfer window can often be a safe place of solace. Rumours linking you to the biggest and best in the world can often bring about that feel-good factor again, and for Manchester United fans, that’s something they desperately need. The Red Devils have been linked with a host of names in recent weeks, but one player who has stood out is former Liverpool star, Philippe Coutinho.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), the Brazilian has been made ‘transferable’ by Barcelona this summer, and that the 26-year-old’s agent has an offer with ‘weight’ from United. However, despite the links of a move to Old Trafford, lots of United fans took to social media to express their concern about Coutinho’s potential arrival.

Some even went so far as to suggest that Barcelona letting the midfielder leave was a ‘trap’ for the Catalan giants to bring in Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, who United are also understood to be interested in. Indeed, many were adamant that they didn’t want Coutinho (rated at £90m by Transfermarkt)  at the club, with the Brazil international struggling once again this season.
