Manchester United: Fans praise Nemanja Matic for ‘decent’ display after Arsenal loss

Starting his fourth Premier League game this season, forgotten man Nemanja Matic put in a seemingly decent display and was one of the main positives during the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat to Arsenal – prompting supporters to praise the Serbian for his efforts on a forgettable evening.

The Serbian was previously out of favour under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having made only a handful of appearances this season partially down to injury, but Matic appeared to showcase his usefulness to the side at the Emirates – amassing an 83% pass success rate, as per WhoScored.

Will Nemanja Matic finish the season a Man Utd player?

Previously, the 31-year-old was a mainstay in this Red Devils outfit – starting for United 28 times last campaign.

However, given the emerged partnership of Fred and Scott McTominay, Matic has found it difficult over the last month to claw back his place in the team.

McTominay, who will be out for eight weeks with ligament damage, seemingly needs a replacement figure – and it could well be the former Chelsea man.

Here’s how supporters praised Matic on Twitter.
