On this day in 2005, Manchester United legend Roy Keane buried his final goal for the club and plenty of Red Devils still haven’t forgotten about the former Irish international.

Taking care of a deflection from a corner, Keane took the ball away from a helpless Southampton defender and lashed a stunning screamer into the back of the net. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side went on to beat Newcastle United 4-1 in the FA Cup semi-finals before losing to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium on penalties (Transfermarkt).

‘Keano’ lined up against the Saints 20 times in his career overall, scoring 4 goals and winning 15 games. The United great won an astonishing 7 Premier League titles, 1 Champions League trophy and 4 FA Cups during his time at Old Trafford (Transfermarkt).
