Manchester United: Fans react to Fred’s opinion on Red Devils academy product
Loads of Manchester United fans have reacted to Fred’s opinion on James Garner, in an exclusive with Trivela.
Speaking to the Brazilian outlet, the defensive midfielder talked about how happy he is with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils.
After being quizzed about academy products he is most impressed by, Fred admitted: “all are very good, they’re not in the first team for nothing. But who impresses me most is Jimmy Garner.
“Not because he’s in the same position as me, but he’s a player who has an impressive vision of the game, has a huge future for United.
“In addition to the impressive game vision, he always plays with his head up, has an impressive shot, an incredible pass. He’s a player that I admire a lot.”
Garner has spent his entire career at Old Trafford up until now and was given his debut by the Norwegian, making an appearance off the bench to replace the 27-year-old in a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park (Transfermarkt). He has scored 8 goals in 10 games for United’s development squad.
The 19-year-old has struggled for game time this season, as Fred, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay are all in front of him in the pecking order at the moment (Transfermarkt).
However, his £15.75m-valued teammate has backed him to achieve big things with the club, and many supporters will be hoping the board offer the teenager a new contract in the summer to ward off interest from Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
Naturally, the Brazilian’s comments attracted a lot of attention from the United faithful, with one fan remarking Garner is “different gravy.”
