Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus, and former Liverpool, midfielder Emre Can, according to Sky Sports.
It has been suggested that the reigning Serie A champions will demand a fee of around £35m for the Germany international.
Can is not considered a top target for the Red Devils, but they are monitoring his situation in Turin, with the midfielder previously having shown his discontent about being left out of Juventus’ Champions League squad.
As well as being left out of Juventus’ squad for European games, Can hasn’t been making it onto the pitch much domestically either – so far, he has made 3 substitute appearances, amassing just 79 minutes on the pitch, as per WhoScored.
This indicates just how far he has fallen down the pecking order at his club, having made 20 league starts last season, coming off the bench on 9 occasions, in which he scored 4 goals and got 1 assist.
During that campaign, he also averaged 2.2 tackles, 1 interception, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game, while maintaining a pass completion rate of 87.1%, with this indicating that he can make an impact with his performances.
While Can has shown signs in the past that he can be a useful player in the midfield, it can be considered a risk for United to sign him in January.
Usually, the point of bringing a player in over the winter period is that they can come in, help get an upturn in form or maintain high standards almost immediately – if Can continues to be left out then he is not that man for United, especially at anywhere near £35m.
