As quoted by the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho has been backed by Manchester United’s Phil Jones over the latest outburst on the touchline by the Portuguese.
This latest tempestuous episode from the former Chelsea boss came after Paul Pogba was booked for allegedly diving under close attention from West Ham’s Mark Noble at the weekend.
The yellow will see the Frenchman suspended with it being his fifth caution of the season but Mourinho clearly felt there had been contact between the two players.
He duly lost the plot in his technical area and kicked a water bottle down the touchline, something referee Jon Moss picked up on and seconds later Mourinho had been sent away.
It’s not the first time even this season that the United boss has incurred the wrath of the officials but for Jones, it’s merely just a man who his displaying his passion for winning.
Jones said: “I think that’s just passion. I like to see that from anyone – players, staff. It’s passion for the game and a willingness to win.
“It is part and parcel of the game. I don’t know what happened on the sideline but players still have to do the job on the pitch and unfortunately we couldn’t get the win.”
United would draw with West Ham at Old Trafford to put a further dent in their already struggling title challenge.
The Red Devils saw Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all win over the weekend to leave them eleven points off of the summit ahead of their next league game away at Everton.
