According to a statistic published by Utd Report on Twitter, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is only the third coach in history to beat Pep Guardiola away from home twice in a single season, with the other two being Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho – resulting in a wave of Red Devils supporters congratulating the Norwegian.
Solskjaer, who has twice guided his side to victory at the Etihad Stadium so far this campaign in all competitions, shares good company alongside the biggest managerial names in the sport following United’s 1-0 derby win on Wednesday night. The result, however, wasn’t enough to guide them to the Carabao Cup final – with the Red Devils ultimately losing the tie 3-2 on aggregate courtesy of City’s brilliant first half performance during the Old Trafford leg.
Even though Solskjaer’s side couldn’t do enough to reach Wembley this time round, many supporters appear to be looking at the positives – with this ‘impressive‘ statistic being one of them.
