Manchester United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stance on Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira attracts praise from supporters

Speaking to Manchester United TV via the People’s Person, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira were absent from the Red Devils’ 3-0 home win over Watford on Sunday – citing more options as the reason.

Lingard and Pereira, who have both attracted criticism from pundits and fans alike this season, were dropped out of the side that cruised past Watford courtesy of strikes from Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. Since explaining his decision, manager Solskjaer also apparently went on to say that ‘standards need to improve‘ where the duo are concerned (MUTV via utdreport) – prompting a wave of supporters to praise the gaffer’s comments. Lingard in particular, who hasn’t managed a goal or assist in the Premier League all season, appears to be under threat from new signing £47 million signing Bruno Fernandes – meanwhile, Pereira has the likes of Greenwood, Daniel James and Juan Mata to contend with.

As a result of the manager’s stance, many supporters have been in awe of Solskjaer – find all of their best comments down below.
