Manchester United ready to let big name go in order to sign powerful star

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see who their side is going to sign this summer as they aim to get back amongst the title challengers in the Premier League.

The men from Old Trafford simply couldn’t keep pace last season with the likes of Spurs and Chelsea and so there is a real suggestion that more players are needed in a host of positions.

For sure, making the Champions League via their Europa League win is going to be a big help in attracting players and now it remains to be seen who the club manages to sign between now and the end of the window.

The rumours, then, are well up and running and, according to The Express, United may try to tempt Everton with a swap deal involving Wayne Rooney and Romelu Lukaku.

Indeed, Rooney has seen his playing time at United decreased dramatically over the last year and many feel it could be time for him to end his long-standing association with the Old Trafford side.

He could, then, be tempted to return to his boyhood club but it really would remain to be seen if the Toffees want to let Lukaku go the other way – given how many goals he’s scored in recent campaigns.
