Manchester United: Red Devils fans discuss David De Gea’s interview - Manchester United

Many Manchester United fans reacted to the news David De Gea wants to stay at Manchester United for ‘many years’ to come, in an exclusive with the Daily Mail

Speaking to Chris Wheeler, the Spaniard insisted he doesn’t want to leave Old Trafford, despite the emergence of academy graduate Dean Henderson over the past couple of seasons.

De Gea said: “I’m getting older. Just to be a part of this club is amazing. So imagine, 10 years, it’s like a dream. It’s great to play games with this club, so I hope I can be here more years, many years.”

The first choice goalkeeper has played in 29 games in the Premier League for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season, conceding 30 goals and keeping 8 clean sheets. Having moved to Manchester from Atletico Madrid for £22.5m all the way back in the summer of 2011, De Gea has made 394 appearances for the Red Devils, keeping 138 clean sheets, and conceding 406 goals. He is now valued at £36m by Transfermarkt and remarkably, he hasn’t been sent off at all in his career so far.

Although the Spanish international has firmly established as United’s number one shot-stopper over the years, Henderson is definitely hot on his heels. The 23-year-old has impressed on loan with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United, appearing in 27 matches in the English top flight, letting in just 22 goals, and saving 10 clean sheets (Transfermarkt).

Predictably, plenty of supporters responded to the 29-year-old’s comments online, with one fan saying it is “time to go,” while another branded such suggestions as “utter nonsense.”
