Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot told the club’s official podcast Bruno Fernandes will become a club legend. Obviously, loads of supporters have responded to his comments on Twitter.
Dalot has formed a close friendship with his compatriot ever since Fernandes arrived at Old Trafford in January from Sporting Lisbon for an initial £47m (BBC Sport). The 25-year-old laughed off media reports last week that suggested Dalot makes him packed lunch before training but did admit the full-back drives him to Carrington.
Since moving to Manchester, it is fair to say Fernandes has dominated English football, scoring 3 goals and assisting 4 in all competitions, as well as picking up the PFA, Premier League and Club Player of the Month accolades (Transfermarkt).
Dalot told the podcast: “He’s a top guy, a top player.”
“He’s going to be a legend no doubt about that.”
Unlike his international teammate, Dalot has struggled to nail down a place in the starting line-up but has made 13 starts in the English top tier including 4 appearances during the current campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His market value is registered at £18m via Transfermarkt.
While many Red Devils were excited by the 20-year-old’s comments about his fellow countryman, several took aim at Dalot’s lack of appearances this season.
Take a look at some of the mixed reactions online…

So use the time with Bruno to up your game, Diogo. That’s what Nani did with Ronaldo at Utd and Portugal.

Diogo Dalot is one of our youngest first team players. He actually needs to step up before we forget about him. He’s a decent RW tbf
