Manchester United are prepared to sell goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer, but with one condition, according to TEAMtalk.
The 22-year-old is having a wonderful season at Bramall Lane after moving to the Sheffield United on loan from Old Trafford until the end of the season, with some suggesting he should be England’s No. 1 shot-stopper for next summer’s European Championships. Labelled as the future, Henderson has emerged into a talent which is hard to ignore. At such a young age, he has caught the eyes of many, particularly those of his manager, Chris Wilder.
He has managed to keep eight clean sheets in 24 Premier League appearances and some have been questioning whether he deserves a chance in the Red Devils first-team, as per Squawka. However, the report has suggested that they are willing to part ways with Henderson, but are only willing to sell him to the Blades. The report suggests that letting him move to Yorkshire permanently is the ideal next step for the young shot-stopper, but could return to Manchester at a later date as he gets more experience in England’s top-flight league.
Chelsea are also interested in the services of the Englishman as the London-based outfit look to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga due to concerns with his form, as per ESPN. However, with United’s No.1 David de Gea making many unforced errors over the past two seasons, the question remains why are they letting such a talented goalkeeper simply leave the club as the Spaniard approaches the age of 30.
The Red Devils have always been a club that nurtures youth and takes care of young talent. Right now, the Whitehaven-born keeper has the world at his feet and has proved that he can cut it in the big leagues with his impressive record and eye-catching performances. As a result, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be crazy to simply let him leave.
With him looking for a place in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad and wanting to play week in, week out, it is understandable. It would be a huge loss for Manchester United. Still, De Gea’s poor form and Sergio Romero’s lack of football would pave the way for Henderson to take the Spaniard’s spot in the future.
