The Tottenham Hotspur forward is the number one transfer target on Real Madrid’s list and most people thought that a move to the Spanish Giants would be a case of when and not if. The club have put together a financial package for the player and the club they have a ‘special relationship’ with and things looked all set.
Now however, Manchester United have declared interest in the player and have been told by officials at Spurs that it would cost them at least £70 million to land the player. This of course is more than three times what Fergie paid for star man RVP from Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal.
Bale is a known admirer of Real Madrid and Ronaldo in particular often tweeting about their games and even going to Old Trafford to watch Real knock United out of the Champions League. However, Fergie feels that the lure of staying close to home may well do it for Bale as the player is known to be close to his family in Wales and visits frequently.
Spurs for their part do not wish to sell their star man to either club and are set to open talks with Bale on a new deal in order to keep him for at least another season and even then place a massive price on his head.
