Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have let out groans of disbelief after reports suggested they’ve missed out in the push for a long-term target.
French outlet BeIN Sports state Paris Saint-Germain are set to land the services of highly-rated attacker Goncalo Guedes from Benfica, beating Manchester United in the chase for the player’s signature.
The 20-year-old saw fresh rumours sparked on his future over the weekend after he dropped to the bench for Benfica’s comfortable 4-0 victory over Tondela, which indicated an exit is looming for one of Europe’s finest young talents.
Guedes, dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo by many, was tipped by The Sun to land a move to Manchester United this window but that situation has not occurred, with the young talent instead moving to French football.
Our landlord doesn’t feel United should be too disheartened though as there is already a wealth of attacking talent at Old Trafford, and he couldn’t see Guedes getting game time in Mourinho’s side.
