Manchester United: Supporters beg Solskjaer to play Angel Gomes after 2-0 Burnley loss

Manchester United: Supporters beg Solskjaer to play Angel Gomes after 2-0 Burnley loss - Manchester United

Following Manchester United’s unexpected 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley, supporters have since gone on and begged manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to play midfield youngster Angel Gomes over the likes of Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard – taking to Twitter in full support over the academy graduate.

Goals from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez sealed an evening to forget from United’s perspective, with the loss becoming their third in just five games. As a result of the contest, there has been much deliberation over the Red Devils’ best starting eleven, with these supporters in particular thinking Gomes should get a shot over Lingard and Pereira.

The Englishman, compared to both regular United starters, has amassed a superior pass success rate of 91.3% over three Europa League starts whilst also averaging 2 shots per match in the competition, as per WhoScored.com. Meanwhile, Gomes has also accumulated more key passes per game (1.7) on average when starting in Europe than the duo – perhaps hinting at a potentially positive impact if he were played more often.

One thing is for certain, these Red Devils fans certainly think he could provide a different dimension – find all of their best comments down below.
