Manchester United got their Champions League campaign off to the perfect start against Young Boys.

United had finally got their Premier League season back on track following a difficult start to the new campaign. The Red Devils responded to defeat against Tottenham with wins over Watford and Burnley before heading to Switzerland to face Young Boys. A brace from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial’s first goal of the season handed them all three points away from home.

The wins will relieve some of the pressure currently on Jose Mourinho’s shoulders following an inconsistent start to the season. The United boss was desperate to add to his squad further during the summer window, but the Red Devils couldn’t get any more deals over the line. Mourinho is expected to return to the transfer market in January.

One man he should be targeting is Marseille winger – Florian Thauvin. Valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman is no stranger to life in England following a dismal spell with Newcastle a few years ago. He might have struggled in the Premier League, but the France international has blossomed into a world-class forward after moving back to Ligue 1.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a stunning campaign last season with Marseille, scoring an incredible 26 goals and registering 18 assists in all competitions. His fantastic form earned him a place in the France World Cup-winning squad. Thauvin has started the new season excellently, netting five goals in his first five games.

Surrounded by the quality that United have to offer, the winger could reach even new heights. Though his time in England wasn’t a success, Thauvin was playing under Steve McClaren during his spell at Newcastle. Alongside Romelu Lukaku, he could finally find his feet at Old Trafford.

Marseille would demand a pretty penny for their prized asset but the price to pay might just be worth it.
