Massive boost for Man United as world star open to stunning switch at last

The lunchtime drinkers in the Transfer Tavern have been greeted with some fantastic news this afternoon in the shape of a Barcelona superstar on the move.

According to Sky Sports, Dani Alves has decided to leave the Blaugrana after a stunning spell with the Spanish giants that started back in 2008.

Since joining from Sevilla, the 33-year old has gone on to haul in trophies by the dozen, including three Champions League wins and 6 La Liga titles.

The Brazilian international has been widely regarded as one of the elite right-backs in world football for almost a decade now, and while he is undoubtedly entering the autumn of his career, will no doubt be of interest to Premier League clubs.

Though Juventus are strongly linked with making a move, Manchester United are also thought to be interested in bringing him to England at long last.

The Red Devils have struggled for a right-back of any stature to replace club legend Gary Neville, with both Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian struggling to wholly convince.

Would Alves be an shrewd addition on a short-term basis?
