Each Sunday The Transfer Tavern will turn the spotlight on an upcoming starlet who could be the one of England’s brightest hopes over the next decade. First up: Ravel Morrison of Manchester United.
Ravel Morrison, aged 18, is the subject of intense speculation and excitement from many Manchester United fans. Those in the right circles of knowledge already know that Morrison has got exceptional talent. His displays in the U18’s league and cup this season have been excellent and his ability and technique led to his substitute debut in the League Cup against Wolves last season.
There will be plenty who are craving more first team appearances for Morrison. After his two goals against Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup, his profile has risen higher and he is probably not undeserving of several cameo’s and the odd start next season for Manchester United.
In terms of strengths, Morrison has a sublime touch and close control. His passing range is very good and possesses an excellent ability to strike the ball cleanly. He has scored a few eye-opening goals in the season just gone for Manchester United U18’s and looks a typical quality AMC.
Weaknesses are tough to assess but the one that sticks out would be the trouble with the law he’s had at such a young age for intimidating a witness in a mugging case. England should hope he steers clear of that in the future and realises his potential on the pitch.
All in all, Ravel Morrison looks a stunning prospect in an exciting upcoming era of English football. He has the pace, skill and footballing ability to have a long and successful career at Manchester United and a loan placement with first team football or a regular cameo role in the Premier League against the weaker teams + cup games would be absolutely ideal for his development. In Ferguson the future of England’s midfield trusts!
