Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying a quiet pint and a slight discussion over the latest news breaking out of Old Trafford.
Two goal hero from weekend Marouane Fellaini looks like he’s playing hardball over the latest round of contract negotiations, according to the Sun. The Belgian midfielder is reportedly happy to see out his contract and leave on a free if his current wages are not dramatically increased by the United board.
Since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, Fellaini has become an important part of the Portuguese’s plans despite the clear opposition by the United fans.
Fellaini followed David Moyes to Old Trafford in a deadline day deal, since which he’s struggled to earn the respect of the Old Trafford faithful despite clocking up close to a ton of appearances. With his different approach to the football game, many of our punters believe that he doesn’t fit in with the United way of playing.
Jose often utilises the unorthodox midfielder in a ploy to hustle and bustle the box in order to grab goals from crosses and long balls in. Mourinho loves a physical player and a plan B if plan A is not working out for him.
Mourinho will tell the United board to do whatever it takes to keep the Belgian happy and at the club. As stated back in July, the Portuguese boss said it’d be easier for Galatasaray to get him than Fellaini, which just goes to show how highly regarded he is in his eyes. It might not be a popular deal, but one that Jose Mourinho deems important enough if United are to continue their current quest for trophies.Like what the TT have on offer?
