Jose Mourinho is not a manager known for giving youth a chance.
His relentless quest for silverware leaves the Portuguese boss with little interest in developing young talent, preferring experienced and proven players in every position. To close the gap between United and cross-city rivals Manchester City, this is what Mourinho feels he has to do.
His marquee signing last season was the January signing of 29-year-old Chilean Alexis Sanchez. Signings like Sanchez hardly point to a desire to give young players an opportunity. Jose is currently chasing another 29-year-old, Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian. These are experienced players who will be expecting regular first-team football, and limited the opportunities of his young stars.
He has controversially branded young players as ‘brats’ who do not deserve to be called men. This does not hint at any desire to change his approach towards his young players at Manchester United. An ageing manager, the Portuguese is finding it increasingly hard to relate to his younger members of the squad.
With that in mind, here are two stars who are being wasted at Manchester United, and need to leave for the good of their careers…
