While the majority of Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were dancing on the pool tables and drinking the bar dry upon the arrival of Jose Mourinho, it was a dark day for the Juan Mata supporters.
The Spanish playmaker, popular as he is, has a chequered past with the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, who infamously sold him just six months into their time together at Chelsea.
His opinion over the 28-year old is not thought to have changed, with the World Cup winner made available for sale.
Though Everton have been linked with a stunning move for the assist king, Sport (via Sport Witness) claim he is considering shock loan moves to both Villarreal and former club Valencia.
Though the Spanish outfits will be unable to match the spending power of those in the Premier League, Mata is said to be open to the prospect of moving back to his homeland.
It is thought he is willing to take a pay-cut to move back to Spain, after five years in England at both Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
Should Mata be given a proper chance under Mourinho?
