The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows this week after they were dumped out of the Champions League by Sevilla, however, news that their club will be chasing a superstar will have cheered them up somewhat.
The Sun is reporting that Jose Mourinho is keen on reuniting with Willian at Old Trafford in the summer, after the Brazilian’s performances have continued to be in fine form, whilst the rest of the Chelsea side appear to have struggled with a second-season syndrome.
Antonio Conte’s team were crowned Premier League champions last year, however, they have failed to replicate those displays since the beginning of this year’s campaign and it has a similar feeling to the former Blues boss in charge of Manchester United.
It was reported that Mourinho has been a keen admirer of the £28.8million winger, as valued by the people at Transfermarkt, but he failed to lure him to Old Trafford last summer. He is reportedly willing to try again in the next transfer window, although he may have to offer around £60m to get his man.
Willian is thought to want to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge and wants contract talks at the end of the season, although it is still unknown whether Chelsea is prepared to offer him a huge new deal at 29-year-old.
Should the Brazilian complete a move to United in the summer, fans in the Transfer Tavern will be considering what it means for the rest of their wide-men, as they already have a vast number of quality players in those positions. Clearly an excellent player, he would go some way into bringing a greater sense of balance to the United ranks.
