Now Euro 2016 is over and done with, silly season can begin in earnest for the punters in the Transfer Tavern. And it has. It really, really has.
Ever since the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, both the Chelsea and Manchester United supporting locals have been entrenched in debate over who will have a better season under the stewardship of new managers.
With the Blues welcoming the hard-nosed Italian coach, Antonio Conte, the excitement in West London is palpable.
Clearly, Mourinho’s presence at the Theatre of Dreams creates a link between the two Premier League titans that they’ve never had before.
Such is the connection of the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ and Stamford Bridge, his new charges have been linked with audacious moves for someone of the Blues’ biggest bastions.
According to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho is plotting a move to bring Cesc Fabregas from London to Old Trafford, having signed him initially from Barcelona in 2014.
The Spaniard’s first season under his tutelage was majestic as they together marched to the Premier League title, though the 30-year old was one of many disappointments last term.
Still, with Juan Mata and Bastian Schweinsteiger linked with moves away, United could be in for a major midfield reboot.
Would Fabregas be the right man for United?
