Man United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern today are not quite sure what to make of the news that their new boss, Jose Mourinho, is planning a major clear out of some of their biggest names.
Mourinho was never going to arrive quietly at Old Trafford, and would have always upset a few connected with the club due to his decisions, but I can’t imagine too many people saw a clear out of this magnitude coming.
According to reports in the Daily Record, the Portuguese manager is set to offload four big names from the Van Gaal era in Manchester; Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Juan Mata.
The four players, who were bought into the club for a combined total of £81.3m, have been deemed not to be up to the standards of the former Chelsea boss and have been put up for sale this summer.
Juan Mata has looked destined for an exit ever since it became clear that Mourinho would take charge, after all the Premier League winning boss was a key reason for the Spaniard leaving Chelsea for Lancashire in 2014.
World Cup winner, Schweinsteiger, has already been linked with a move to French giants, Paris Saint Germain this summer and in the light of his managers decision this move could become a reality sooner rather than later.
The futures of both Blind and Rojo remain unclear, with the Dutchman having stated his desire to remain at Old Trafford, however his manager may not see it that way.
United fans, we want to hear from you! Is this what the squad needs in order to succeed, or should Mourinho to be so quick in his decision making? Let us know below…
