Mourinho quoted £15m for Euro 2016 winner in Man United chase

The Manchester United and Southampton supporting punters parked up at the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing defender Jose Fonte.

A stalwart of the Saints’ success in recent years, many of the south coast drinkers are bored of the Portuguese’s apparent wish to move to Old Trafford after some shaky performances this term.

Which is why they’re delighted to read reports from the Daily Mail suggesting the club could slap a £15m price tag on the Euro 2016 winner.

United are believed to be interested in bringing the 32-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams, though are reportedly hoping to pay around £5m.

However, the Saints are understood to want the Red Devils to TRIPLE such a valuation, despite the fact he has just 18 months to run on his deal at St. Mary’s.

Receiving such a fee would be a great stroke of business for Southampton, who are widely regarded as the gurus of the market by the punters here in the Tavern.

While our United supporting drinkers do indeed want Fonte at the club, they are wary about paying that amount of money for a 32-year-old.

Would United be stupid to pay so much for Fonte? Let us know below…
