With Manchester United under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho failing to wholly encapture the imagination of the punters propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, it’s fair to say our punters need some cheering up.
Finishing in the top four looks extremely unlikely for the Red Devils right now and only winning the Europa League will get them back into the Champions League right now, so at least reports from ESPN have lifted spirits somewhat.
They claim the club have opened talks with veteran midfielder Michael Carrick over the idea of extending his deal at the Theatre of Dreams. Out of contract in the summer, the 35-year-old has become a major part of the starting XI of late and is widely regarded as the man who can help bring out the best in Paul Pogba.
With that in mind, Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to sanction a 12-month contract extension for the former England international, who has won it all during his 11-year stint with the Red Devils.
As you can imagine, this news has gone down very well indeed with our punters.
