Mourinho rocks Guardiola as Man United move in on record-breaking £53m deal

Manchester has once again seemingly become the hub of football activity in England, with fans of both United and City celebrating in the Transfer Tavern after seismic summers.

Guardiola vs Mourinho, Ibrahimovic vs Aguero, Red vs Blue, this season has all the makings as perhaps the most blockbuster in Premier League memory.

Though both clubs appear to be making very different journeys in a bid to restore themselves at the top of the Premier League.

However, the notion of both sides going in for the same player is enough to get our punters’ mouths watering, ahead of what could be a truly colossal transfer tussle.

According to the Times, Red Devils chief Mourinho is planning a late move for Everton defender John Stones, who has been strongly linked with a £53m move to the Etihad.

The Portuguese infamously courted the 22-year old with Chelsea last term, only to see a multitude of offers snubbed by the Toffees.

Despite splashing £30m on Ivorian centre-half Eric Bailly, the 53-year old tactician is understood to reserve doubts over the player’s top flight experience, prompting him to look for another defender.

Any deal luring the former Barnsley ace away from Goodison Park is likely to break David Luiz’s £50m record as the most expensive defender in the history of football.

Where would Stones fit in better? Why? Let us know below…
