Manchester United have fallen short of their expectations in the Premier League, but could still reach the Champions League next season if they secure victory in the Europa League final with Ajax later this month.
Whatever the outcome of the clash in Stockholm, Manchester United face a major test to improve their squad in the summer and may find themselves having to replace key-players, with David de Gea being the most difficult to find a replacement for.
The Spanish goalkeeper continues to attract heavy interest from Real Madrid and there are suggestions that Jose Mourinho will sell.
Should De Gea leave for the Spanish capital, then a move for AC Milan ace Gianluigi Donnarumma should be a priority.
18-year-old Italian ace Donnarumma has made a huge impression in the Serie A by establishing himself as first-choice for the San Siro giants.
However, his future remains under speculation as super-agent Mino Raiola continues to flirt with an exit.
Crucially, Donnarumma can continue to improve in the coming years and could become Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper for the next decade – which would leave the Red Devils in a comfortable position following De Gea’s exit.
A deal may be expensive for Manchester United but they have the necessary finances to complete a deal and they should go all-out to secure this mega target in the summer window.
Would Donnarumma be a good replacement for De Gea? Let us know in the comments below!
