Mourinho shows priorities with emphatic Man United team news

After a dismal day against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, it’s fair to say the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern need some cheering up.

It’s now mathematically impossible for the Red Devils to finish in the top four and, while they may still qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, some of our United fans are somewhat underwhelmed.

So, what they really don’t need right now is more injury news. Though Mourinho’s squad have been somewhat disappointing this season, there’s little doubting the fact the injury crisis has had a severe impact.

Which is why quotes sourced in the Manchester Evening News have been met with applause. Mourinho has revealed defender Daley Blind will not play against Southampton in midweek.

The Dutchman will reportedly be rested for the trip to the south coast in order to focus on winning the Europa League, much to the delight of our locals.

Such is the nature of their luck with injuries, the Red Devils here in the bar believe this is good management and a boost to their European hopes.

“The most important thing for us is no injuries,” he stressed.

“And some people having a proper rest.

“Blind had to play 90 minutes but the next match is for Blind to rest and we have to go like this step-by-step, rest people.”
