Not in action last night, in either a Premier League nor a Deadline Day one, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern watched it all unfold with keen eyes yesterday, cutting relatively relaxed figures.
Still, the United fans propping up the bar have been met with some interesting reports from the Daily Mirror on the transfer front, despite the fact the window has slammed shut yesterday. They’ve revealed manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford is still hoping the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young stay at the club, with the Chinese Super League still open.
Both were linked with lucrative moves to the Far East for pretty much the entire month and there is said to be offers on the table. Their market, which has attracted top European talents on big money of late, remains open until the end of this month, with CSL sides still able to purchase players.
Rooney, in particular, is understood to be able to command a huge salary should he move, though the Portuguese is said to be hoping those offers are rejected until the end of the campaign. That’s mirrored by the Red Devils in the bar, who believe the pair – while not starters – can offer some reinforcement as the business end of the season rapidly approaches.
Will Rooney and Young stay until the summer? Let us know below…
