One of the most fascinating subplots of Jose Mourinho’s seismic move to Manchester United has been the musing of the punters in the Transfer Tavern as to the fate of Juan Mata.
The Spaniard was infamously axed from the Chelsea squad after just six months under the Portuguese, despite winning the club’s Player of the Year award two seasons in a row before that.
Now reunited, the Daily Mail claims that the World Cup winning playmaker is out to seek assurances over his future at Old Trafford under the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’.
The 28-year old is understood to want to remain with the club he joined from the Blues for £37m in January 2014 after winning the FA Cup, though will seek assurances over his future.
With the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid coach thought to be planning a major overhaul, a plethora of attacking names playing in similar positions to the Spanish international have been linked.
Will Mata be sold by Mourinho again?
