Mourinho unlikely to replace Ibrahimovic, good news for Man United

Having watched their side navigate what could have potentially been a difficult Europa League tie against St Etienne last night with relative ease, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are in good spirits.

The Red Devils are clearly a work in progress under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho, a partnership that now seems to be working. While the pairing hasn’t always appeared to be the most natural of marriages, the Portuguese is working well at Old Trafford right now.

One of the major grievances the United fans in the bar had upon his arrival initially was his reasonably poor record when working with burgeoning young talents. For a club who boast such a proud history in producing young players, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ didn’t seem to fit.

However, reports from Yahoo Sport have gone down a storm amongst the Red Devils in the bar. They claim the 54-year-old has identified Marcus Rashford as the man to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic going forward. Though the superstar Swede is the first-choice right now, Mourinho reportedly sees the England international as the future of the club.

There had been suggestions the 19-year-old was growing frustrated at the Theatre of Dreams, though this report suggests he will start to see more game time in the coming months, even if Ibra stays. Mourinho is not thought to have included a like-for-like replacement for the 35-year-old, instead preferring to bring Rashford on.
