The United fans in the Tavern have been defending their manager’s style of football this morning after the Red Devil’s came out 2-1 winners against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Old Trafford faithful watched on as Marcus Rashford put them 2-0 up before an Eric Bailly own-goal halved the deficit for Liverpool in the second half.
Jose Mourinho's style not sustainable at Man Utd in long-term, says Sunday Supplement panel.

Despite the win over now 4th placed Liverpool, Jose Mourinho has come in for criticism on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement show for the way he set his team up to approach the second half. Liverpool failed to manage a single effort on target in the second 45 minutes at Old Trafford and bar a moment of madness from Eric Bailly, never looked like scoring. However, the Portuguese tactician has been slated by pundits for “negative football” despite his side’s win.
The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager has been accused of deploying boring football in the past and is synonymous with ‘parking the bus’ during difficult games in the hope of earning a point. On Sunday Supplement, the panel agreed that Mourinho’s style is not sustainable at Manchester United because of the club’s rich history as a flamboyant, attacking side.

No he’s 2nd in the league using that style, he’s definately doing something wrong. Did i mention were in the last 16 of champs league vs Sevilla using the same style? How about quarter final of the FA cup using that style? No? Okay not good enough.

People easily forget that Utd played well during the start of the season and at that time people were glowing about the brand of football they were playing. Lost of form, injuries, change of personnel mean Mou has to be pragmatic in games.

Bore off ffs. Winning derbies is always sustainable

Mourinho's style is sustainable long-term at any club. He's one of the few managers that guarantees trophies regardless of the team he's managing.

It’s terrible this ‘winning games’ style of play isn’t it

Yeah he should have played expansive football and allowed Liverpool's quality attack to score 14. Unfair that he nullified them by sitting deep.
