Manchester United have finally got their season back on track and are hunting down the league leaders.

There was immense pressure on Jose Mourinho’s shoulders following an inconsistent start to the Premier League season. A media meltdown following defeat to Spurs plunged his immediate future into doubt. However, wins against Burnley, Watford and Young Boys has given the Portuguese some much-needed rest bite.

United will be desperate to address their shortcomings in the summer transfer window when business resumes in January. A centre-back is surely going to be on Mourinho’s shortlist to strengthen his back four, considering what happened this summer. The ex-Chelsea boss could also be in the market for a new right winger after seeing a move for Willian fail.

One man he should be targeting is Lille forward – Nicolas Pepe. Valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, the Ivorian winger has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s brightest talents after a stunning debut season with his new club. Pepe joined Lille from Angers last summer and netted 13 league goals as well as notching four assists.

Eager to prove he is not a one-season wonder, the 23-year-old has already found the net four times as well as providing three assists in his opening five Ligue 1 appearances this summer. With terrifying pace, excellent close control and an eye for goal; he has all the attributes Mourinho will be searching for in a winger.

Should his impressive form continue, it won’t be long before Europe’s elite come calling. United must make sure they beat their rivals to the punch before his value skyrockets.
