Much of the debate amongst the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern has largely centred around who they’ll sign this summer.
While Jose Mourinho managed to win two trophies during his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford, few would doubt his squad needs all sorts of work. Still, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ can start that very process, even without signing big name players right away.
Indeed, the Portuguese has moved to consolidate proceedings at the Theatre of Dreams, following confirmation on their official website. They’ve officially revealed Antonio Valencia has extended his deal with the Red Devils by another two years.
The 31-year-old will now see his contract expire in 2019, tough there is the option to extend it by another season after that, should they wish to do so. While the Ecuadorian star struggled to wholly impress as a winger upon his initial arrive in 2009, he’s proved a solid right-back over the last few years.
He’s won two PL titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League since moving from Wigan and the fact he’ll be staying around a few years has been celebrated by our resident Red Devils.
