‘Our future captain’ – Man United fans on Twitter react to post praising divisive star

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s tweet, containing the stat that Paul Pogba has set up 12 goals for teammates this season, double that of last season when he only registered six assists. This has led to the United fans all agreeing that the Frenchman’s importance to the team is huge as they prepare for their last four games of the Premier League season and an FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Paul Pogba has split opinions since he joined Manchester United from Juventus at the start of last season. The midfielder has been a key player in his two years at Old Trafford, although he’s been accused of falling below the standards he set himself whilst he played for The Old Lady. The 25-year-old played a star role on Saturday as United dumped Spurs out of the FA Cup, winning 2-1 at Wembley. The midfielder swung in a superb ball for Alexis Sanchez to score United’s equaliser and set them on their way to their third cup final under Mourinho.

At the age of just 25, Pogba has plenty of time to grow as a player and will be playing his best football in just a few years time. However, that might not be with Manchester United. The player infamously fell out with Jose Mourinho when the club lost 2-0 at Wembley to Spurs back in January and according to the media, all communication between the pair broke down. Now though, things seem to be on the up for Pogba and if he impresses at the World Cup with France, it’ll be harder for Mourinho to let him go.
