Manchester United fans were delighted to watch Paul Pogba lift the FIFA World Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The United midfielder led his side to their second triumph, scoring a beautiful goal in the second-half to strengthen their advantage. It caps a wonderful tournament for the ex-Juventus midfielder, and United fans will be hoping his performances continue next season. However, it wasn’t just Pogba who caught the eye.

Croatia surprised everyone with their exceptional run to the final. Luka Modric won the golden ball for his showings and Inter Milan winger, Ivan Perisic, was excellent throughout. The winger has been a long-term target of Manchester United, and it’s time Jose Mourinho finally brought him to Old Trafford.

Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, no player Croatian player has been involved in more goals at a major tournament, with six goals and four assists. Back in Italy, Perisic is a key player for Inter Milan, scoring 11 and assisting nine in the Serie A last season. The 29-year-old is exactly what Mourinho needs at United.

A hard-working forward with an eye for goal, the former Wolfsburg man would fit perfectly in the Portuguese’s system. Mourinho has used the likes of Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the past, but no-one has been able to cope with the defensive responsibility. Perisic, however, would have no trouble with getting up and down the line.

His price tag has probably increased following the World Cup, but bringing him to Manchester would definitely be worth it.
