Well that was embarrassing, wasn’t it? Manchester United’s loss against Wolves on Tuesday proved just how far United have to go before they challenge for the title. Signing Phillipe Coutinho would provide the quality alongside Paul Pogba that he needs to reach his potential.

Pogba was criticised heavily under Jose Mourinho, and people will argue it was his own fault or it was the manager’s. Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken over, he’s improved creatively, but he’s still not got enough quality players around him to bounce off.

AS (via Sky Sports) are reporting Pogba wants an exit from United, with Real Madrid being a possibility. If that’s true, then the club should spend even more and buy some talent he’d be happy to play alongside. Phillipe Coutinho fits the bill perfectly.

Spanish outlet Sport (via the Express) believe United, Chelsea and PSG are all interested in the forward, who hasn’t had the impact at Barcelona that everyone expected him to have. The club could choose to cut their losses and United should swipe him up to play with Pogba.

His vision and creativity would excite the Frenchman. His ability to create a goal out of nothing would also mean there’s less pressure on the World Cup winner to be the man to constantly lift United. He must feel like there’s too much weight on his shoulders at the moment, and the Brazilian can help lift that.

The £90m-rated (as per Transfermarkt) star would prove United really are on the way back to European domination and they’re not going to sit in Man City’s shadow any longer. To keep Pogba, these are the type of signings United have to secure, so it’s time to get spending!
