Jose Mourinho was just seconds away from getting a valuable three points at the home of his former club Chelsea at the weekend but their miserable season continues as they were denied in the 96th minute.
The Red Devils showed glimpses of the team they have been in that game but their rotten luck this season keeps them in 10th place.
It seems that should Jose Mourinho stay at Old Trafford, he will need a big budget in January for him to go out and amend the teams major problems.
Spanish outlet Marca via The Sun previously linked United to a massive deal to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio and what a transfer it could turn out to be.
The exciting 22-year-old hasn’t been able to bring out his best form under Julen Lopetegui and a move to Manchester United would be a great idea for all parties.
What could it mean in the long term though…
There would be no new contract for Juan Mata
Mata’s current United deal runs out in the summer and despite reports suggesting United are keen to tie him down to a new one, that new contract could be forgotten about should Manchester United pursue a deal to sign Marco Asensio instead.
At 30, it seems that Juan Mata is set to be replaced by a 22-year-old version of himself and he would have to find a club elsewhere.
Asensio would provide a massive attacking boost
This season Asensio has one goal and three assists in nine games but if you take a look at his efforts in-front of goal last season, you would see 11 goals and 6 assists in all competitions, figures that could allow United to be more effective in-front of goal with a creative maestro like Asensio setting his team-mates up.Like what the TT have on offer?
